Eastern University

Eastern University redesigned their website into a responsive framework on Drupal. The website was rolled out in a couple phases. The redesign included new information architecture, a new content management system and creative.

Eastern hired Context LLC to provide custom development for search and filter, menus and initial front-end development. A few months later, I had converted the website into a responsive framework, in addition to adding new features for academic programs and undergraduate admissions.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Universities and colleges redesign their websites every 3-5 years. The previous website was in place for roughly 5 years and the content management system it was using had technical restrictions for Eastern’s business needs.

MY ROLE

During this time, I was the University Web Director and served as the design and front-end development lead. Marking and communications worked with undergraduate admissions to gather survey results, which I then applied to a series of designs. My role was instrumental in driving this project from start to deployment.

Responsive Web Design

Eastern University’s website was developed using HTML5, SASS/CSS/Compass, jQuery and PHP. The content management system is using Drupal 7’s framework. The theme is using a custom child theme of Omega.
